Marie's career began with her
family’s passion for travel, study and observation of the
decorative arts. Throughout her life she has traveled throughout
Europe, Asia and South America,
nurturing her understanding and appreciation of diverse regional and
period aesthetics. This was the beginning of her education in creating
interiors spanning contemporary to traditional incorporating the finest
antiques. This knowledge gained throughout Marie’s life,
continues to influence her work to this day.
Alongside Marie’s
broad lifestyle experience within art, antiques, and design aesthetics,
Marie also pursued a formal education in the technical aspects of her
trade, obtaining a B.S.
Degree from San Jose
State University in Interior Design in
1979. "To me, being a professional requires more than simply having the
right sense of style. It also means mastering the 'nuts and bolts' of
design, including the latest in technology, materials and architecture.
It's this combination of experience that enables a designer to deliver
not just beautiful results but also value to the client."
With an enviable
reputation over the past 30 years, Marie’s design firm Chelsea
Court Designs has consistently created sophisticated yet comfortable
environments. Employing a team of creative professionals, Marie’s
firm delivers an unsurpassed level of service and personal attention to
each of her diverse projects. Homes range from local elegant country
estates, contemporary apartments in the Far East,
to exotic island vacation homes. Some are clients' first homes; many
are homes for long term clients who return again and again as their
families mature.
Marie believes good design is a combination
of many elements to create timeless interiors that enhance her
clients’ lives, remaining thoughtful of their cultural
backgrounds, mindful of their budgets, whilst remaining attentive to
the architecture and landscaped surroundings
